Archie W. Thayer

Archie W. Thayer, age 92, of Deckerville, died Thursday October 10, 2013, in Autumnwood of Deckerville. He was born July 22, 1921 in Marion Township, the son of the late Martin and Caroline (McGregor) Thayer. He married Lillian Barr on June 1, 1944 in Sandusky. Archie was a member of Deckerville United Methodist Church, and Marion Lodge 192 F &AM. He was employed at General Telephone for over 30 years. He enjoyed water skiing, hunting, the out of doors and traveling. Most of all he loved and enjoyed his family. Mr. Thayer is survived by his wife Lillian of Deckerville, one son Ted (Barb) Thayer of Cass City, one daughter Diana (Jeryl) Waun of South Branch, seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, one brother, John (Leona) Thayer of St. Johns, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Thayer and Fred Thayer. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Archie W. Thayer will be 1:00 PM., Saturday in the Apsey Funeral Home. Rev. Monique Carpenter will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00-9:00 PM., Friday. Memorials may be given to the Deckerville United Methodist Church.
