Barry Craig Brinker went home to be with the Lord on April 8 th, 2025, at the age of 77. He

passed away peacefully, in his home - surrounded by his family. Barry was born in Sandusky

Michigan on July 19 th , 1947, the son of Rex and Evelyn Brinker. He was raised in Port Sanilac

and married the love of his life Susan, in 1968. His greatest joy was raising his five children.

Barry came to know the Lord as his personal savior in 1970 and his love of and devotion to

Christ was displayed in his passion for preaching the Gospel.

Barry worked for Detroit Edison as a journeyman Lineman for 35 years – and while he was

working, he made time to build a home for his family. He was a dedicated senior Elder at Mills

Gospel Hall where he taught and preached for 47 years. He and Susan opened their home to

host bible studies, gospel hymn sings and fellowshipping with young and old alike. Barry was

also, a great patriot who loved this country very much. As the son of a WW II Veteran and the

father and grandfather of veterans – he always went out of his way to support our men and

women in uniform.

Barry was a self-taught banjo player and talented musician. He was a founding member of the

Black River Bluegrass Boys and his “sassy” banjo playing and beautiful voice moved many

audiences across the country. He was an avid woodsman, who enjoyed sport shooting, hunting

and many outdoor activities. Barry loved playing many sports with his children and could always

be found at the ball diamond, track or the basketball court – cheering on his kids.

Barry is survived by his loving wife Susan, and their children Mona, Barry (Rebecca), Leah

(Michael), Sarah (Andy) and Gina; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was

preceded in death by his parents Rex and Evelyn and his brother Kevin.

Barry will not only be remembered for his sharp wit and dry sense of humor but also his

personal and moral courage, gentle nature, selflessness and compassion. He will be missed but

we rejoice in knowing that we will see him again in the Glory Land.
