Beulah Parrott of Sarasota, formerly of Deckerville, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026 at the age of 99 surrounded by her loving family. Beulah was born on January 21, 1927 in Deckerville, Michigan, the eldest child of the late Harold and Irma (Morris) Gough. She was raised on a humble dairy farm where she walked to school through the brutal Michigan snow, except upon the lucky chance her uncle would pick her up by horse and buggy. Those early lessons of hard work, faith, and the importance of family and community shaped the kind and strong woman she remained throughout her life. Beulah graduated from Deckerville High School in 1944 and went on to graduate from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. On September 3, 1948, Beulah eloped with Wayne Parrott in Bowling Green, Ohio, and together they raised six amazing children and shared a strong, loving family bond. In 1979, Beulah and Wayne moved to Sarasota, Florida to escape the cold and enjoy their golden years. In 1993, they relocated to Sun Outdoors Sarasota, where Beulah lived for the next 33 years, making her one of the community’s longest-standing residents. She was extremely social and formed many treasured friendships throughout her lifetime. Beulah was a woman who never met a stranger and could talk easily to anyone. She embraced a warm, active lifestyle while maintaining close ties with her family roots in Michigan. She also loved to travel, embracing all opportunities to go anywhere around the world. Beulah loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially sharing her love of card games. She enjoyed teaching others how to play and was known for her competitive spirit. Her favorite games included Bingo, Samba, Euchre, Hand and Foot, Cribbage, Pinochle, and Kings on the Corner. Her family could never seem to beat her, no matter how hard they tried. She will be remembered as a loving wife, caring mother, fun grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She treasured time spent with her loved ones and remained closely connected throughout her life. Beulah is survived by her children: Terry (Gary) Peters, Sherry (Tim) Kenny, Dennis (Karen) Parrott, Julie Suddeth, and Steven Parrott; 12 grandchildren; 23 ½ great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish memories of her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne Parrott; her daughter, Connie Smith; her parents, Harold and Irma (Morris) Gough; her sisters, Lois Theobald and Phyllis Stolicker; her brother, Richard Gough; and her grandson, Douglas Peters.
Beulah’s family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support offered during this time. Though her family mourns her passing, they take comfort in knowing she is reunited with Wayne, Connie, and the loved ones who welcomed her home.
A Funeral Service honoring Beulah’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Service on Friday, June 12, 2026 at the Peshek Family Funeral Home – Apsey Chapel, 3467 Main St., Deckerville, MI 48427. A Celebration of Life will be held at Sun Outdoors Sarasota in early 2027.
