Catherine Jensen Garcia

Catherine J. Jensen Garcia, age 44, of Colorado Springs, CO, died Sunday October 23, 2022, when she attempted to rescue a friend, whose kayak had overturned. She was born in Deckerville, MI to Lee and Louise Jensen. After graduating from Deckerville, she attended Lake Superior State University where she earned her degree in criminal justice. She became a police officer in Port Sanilac and later worked for the Michigan Department of Corrections. Catherine is survived by her two sons, Wesley Garcia and Cameron Garcia; her parents Lee and Louise Jensen of Deckerville; her brother Robert Jensen; her former spouse Alan Garcia; special friend Max Blesch; and many aunts and uncles and cousins. A graveside service will be held on Thursday November 10, 2022, in the Downing Cemetery at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow. Local arrangements were by the Apsey Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Deckerville Education Foundation.
