Cecil L. Baslock, Jr., age 76, of Deckerville, passed away Wednesday, February 1st at his home. Cecil was the son of the late Cecil Sr. and Mary Baslock of Bad Axe. He married Priscilla Olsway, daughter of the late Frank and Irene Olsway of Ubly. He attended Bad Axe Grade and High School - lettered in baseball. Cecil served in the U.S. Navy on two different destroyers, U.S.S. Goodrich and U.S.S. Davis. He was honorably discharged as FT3. Cecil was employed as a postal employee starting in Bad Axe and as Postmaster of Vernon, Deckerville and Sandusky. He was the past Post Commander of the VFW in Bad Axe, coached Babe Ruth, Little League and men's softball leagues. He served on the Village Council of Vernon and Deckerville and he helped renovate the Deckerville Community Center. He was a past member of the Lions Club, American Legion Lansing Post, Handyman Club of America, and a member of the NRA. He loved playing horseshoes, pool and sports. Cecil was preceded in death by his wife Priscilla (Pat) on October 7, 1997 and survived by his children; Joseph (Kim) Baslock of Snover, Kimberly Briesmeister of Fenton, Janeen (Daniel) Bezemek of Minden City, Michelle Look of Flint, Steven (Angela) Baslock of Minden City, David Baslock of Wadhams, Matthew (Mary) Baslock of Deckerville, 16 grandchildren and 1?5 great grandchildren with ?3 more on the way; also his brother, Charles (Tina) Baslock of New York and his sister, Rosemary Ranquist of Bad Axe. In accordance to ?Cecil's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements were handled through Apsey Funeral Home, Deckerville.
