Charles E. Davis, age 77, of Deckerville, died Saturday January 17, 2026, in his home after an extended illness. He was born on September 18, 1948, the son of the late Burton and Ethelyn (Powers) Davis. Charlie grew up on the family farm one mile north of Deckerville and attended Deckerville Community School, graduating with the class of 1966. He then served four years with the US Army, stationed in Vietnam, Germany and various posts in the United States. He later attended the MSU Agricultural Program and then returned to the family farm. On June 30, 1973, he married Miss. Darlene A. Hoggard and together they worked on the family farm and raised two sons. Charlie enjoyed woodworking, fixing his own machinery and anything else that needed fixing until it couldn’t be fixed any more. He was a member of the 1st Baptist church of Deckerville, where he served for many years as the church treasurer and a deacon. He also served on the Downing Cemetery board. He is survived by his wife Darlene and one son Andrew, both of Deckerville; three sisters Marianne (Noble) Harper of Deckerville, Ellen (Larry) Risenberg of OH, and Laurie (Dean) Kent of Mt. Morris; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Nathan.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026 at the Peshek Family Funeral Home – Apsey Chapel. Funeral Service to honor the life of Charles E. Davis will be at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Service on Friday, January 23, 2026 at the Peshek Family Funeral Home-Apsey Chapel, 3467 Main St., Deckerville, MI 48427. Pastor Jedediah Willis will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to 1st Baptist Church of Deckerville or Compassus Hospice of Cass City.
