Clara H. Spencer

Clara H. Spencer, age 101, of Deckerville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday September 18, 2018 in her home. She was born July 29, 1917 in McGregor the youngest of eight children to the late Carl and Katherine (Hergert) Schmidt. Clara married Lloyd Spencer on May 20, 1939 in Sandusky. He preceded her in death July 11, 1999. She was a former employee of Clements Manufacturing after 25 years. She also worked on the family farm in Custer Township. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Clara was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church, in Sandusky. Mrs. Spencer is survived by two sons, Roger (Nancy) Spencer of Kawkawlin and Mark (Linda) Spencer of Deckerville; one son-in-law Henry Buxton of TX; six grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her daughter Suzanne Buxton and seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services to honor the life of Clara H. Spencer will be 1:00 Pm Saturday September 22, 2018 in the Apsey Funeral Home. Pastor Richard Tino will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM., Saturday until the time of service. Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church Pre-School Fund or Downing Cemetery.
