Daniel E. Shaw, known affectionately as Danny to his friends and family, passed away on August 23, 2024, at the age of 49. Born on November 19, 1974, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, Danny was a cherished son, brother, and uncle. His departure, due to complications from COVID, has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Danny was the beloved father to Stephan and Jacob and grandfather to Sophia. Loving son of Cruz C. Friday and the step-son to Gordon Friday, who both instilled in him the values of hard work and perseverance. He was a supportive and caring brother to Larry Shaw and a proud half-brother to Thomas Shaw. Danny was preceded in death by his father Donald Shaw. Danny’s family extended to his step-mother Linda Shaw and two step-sisters Katelyn and Lauren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he held dear and shared countless memorable moments with over the years.

Despite the challenges life presented, Danny achieved his education through diligence, earning his GED with determination and pride. His academic accomplishment laid the groundwork for his successful career as a skilled welder. Danny’s craftsmanship was not only his trade but his passion, and he took great satisfaction in the tangible results of his labor.

Throughout his career, Danny was a dedicated member of the Iron Workers Union, where he made significant contributions to the infrastructure of his community. His work on various projects, including the construction of bridges and the assembly of the impressive Ford Field scoreboard, stands as a testament to his skill and dedication to his craft. His colleagues knew him as a man who could be relied upon, a worker whose hands were as steady as his heart was generous.

Danny's legacy is not only in the structures he helped to build but also in the lives he touched. He was known as a handy man, always ready to lend a hand or a tool, and his knowledge was as vast as his willingness to help others.

While Danny's passing has brought deep sorrow, those who loved him will forever cherish the memories they created together. His influence will continue to be felt through the structures that stand tall against the skyline and through the love and lessons he imparted to his family and friends.

As we bid farewell to Daniel E. Shaw, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will endure. Danny’s memory will be carried forward not only in the steel and stone of his work but in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
