David L. Roskey

David Leroy Roskey, age 88, of Deckerville, passed away Wednesday April 18, 2018 in Autumnwood of Deckerville surrounded by his family. He was born October 24, 1929 in Port Huron, the son of the late Norman and Edith (French) Roskey. David married Miss. Geraldine M. Grant on July 2, 1955 in Port Huron. David grew up in Port Huron and attended Port Huron High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US. Army from 1951 to 1953. He enjoyed bowling, golf and playing solitaire. He was a member of the Deckerville Lions Club, American Legion and the Deckerville Community Center Board. After being discharged from the Army he went to work for the St. Clair County Road Commission for 19 years. In 1967 he moved his family to Deckerville and purchased the Deckerville Recreation Center and changed the name to Melody Lanes. He operated the bowling alley until 1989 when he sold it to his son David. He is survived by his wife Geraldine; one daughter Melody A. (Sidney) Hamill, two sons, David F. (Marsha) Roskey, and Daniel L. (Shelley) Roskey; four grandchildren, Lee Ann (Ryan) Jacobs, Justin (Andrea) Hamill, Andrea (Jason) Smith and Nathan (Kristy) Roskey; nine great grandchildren, Hallie and Isla Jacobs, Madeline and Cooper Hamill, Kyla and Kaden Smith, Ella, Myla and Reed Roskey. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar Roskey and George Roskey, and two sisters, Celia Frostic and Bernice Myers. A gathering of family and friends to honor the life of David L. Roskey, will be held Saturday May 5, 2018 from Noon until 3:00 PM., in the Apsey Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be given to the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation.
