Demetria Garcia

Demetria P. Garcia, age 85, of Deckerville, died Friday April 4, 2008 in her home. She was born January 19, 1923 in Seagoville, TX. the daughter of Juan and Sostenez (Dela Rosa) Garcia. She married Alex Garcia on May 19, 1950 in Peck. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1991. Mrs. Garcia loved to sew, making many of her children?s clothes. She also helped her husband in their shoe repair and upholstery business known as Alex?s Shoe Repair on Main Street. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Silvia (Carl) Beardsley of Interlochen, and Ms. Mary Perry of Deckerville, seven grandchildren and eleven grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son Charles and one grandson, Johnny Bowers, also four brothers, and three sisters. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Demetria P. Garcia will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday in the Apsey Funeral Home, your ?Legacy of Life? funeral home, Pastor Michael Hollenbeck and Rev. Isaias Hernandez will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-9 PM on Tuesday and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to the Family Discretionary Fund.
