Donald G. Campbell

Donald G. Campbell, age 91, of Deckerville passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 14, 2019. He was born on June 3, 1928 in Detroit, the son of the late Otto and Rosella (Wellman) Campbell. He married Erma Labor on May 19, 1951 In Custer Township. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Sandusky and attended Concordia Lutheran Church while wintering in Sarasota, Florida. Don could often be found visiting with friends and relatives. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and spending time in the woods on his farm. Don is survived by two sons and daughters- in-law, Curtis (Patricia) Campbell of Caledonia, Dennis (Beverly) Campbell of Grand Rapids, and one daughter and son-in -law, Ruth (Robert) Barnes of Sarasota, Florida. Seven grandchildren, Thomas (Ashley), Stephen, Christopher, Zachary Campbell, and Andrew (Jennifer) Barnes, Sarah (Steve) Barnes, and Anna (Paul) Zeller. Seven great grandchildren. Brother-in-law Harold Graves. Special cousin Linda Roger Bundy. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Erma, his wife of 55 years. His fiancé Frances Nichol. Two sisters, Dorothy Graves, Carolyn (Melvin) Lamont. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Donald Campbell will be 11 AM Thursday, November 21 at Peace Lutheran Church, Sandusky. Pastor Eric Kilmer will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 PM Wednesday in the Apsey Funeral Home, Deckerville and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church, Sandusky, or Concordia Lutheran Church, Sarasota,Florida.
