Donald L. Van Norman, age 94, of Deckerville, died Tuesday September 6, 2011 in the Deckerville Community Hospital.
He was born December 2, 1916 in Evergreen Township, the son of the late Lyman and Estella (Parrott) Van Norman.
He married Retha McGregor on August 27, 1937 in Downington. She preceded in death October 10, 2009.
Mr. Van Norman was a lifetime member of the Deckerville Bible Church. He worked at the former Parrott's Creamery, and he was an area carpenter for many years. When he was younger he enjoyed playing ball, and in his later years liked to watch the Detroit Tigers.
He is survived by two sons, Larry (Judy) Van Norman and Jerry (Carol) Van Norman both of Deckerville, one daughter Mrs. Beth Anne Gwinn of Sweetwater, TN., four grand children, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and one brother Doyle Van Norman of Swartz Creek.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Runnells, and Beatrice Wilbur, and one son-in-law, Elmore Gwinn.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Donald L. Van Norman will be 11:00 AM., Friday in the Apsey funeral home. Rev. Jeff Homan will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3:00-8:00 PM., Thursday.
Memorials may be given to the Deckerville Bible Church, or Autumnwood Auxiliary.
