Dotti Wagner Choate, age 81, of Playa del Rey, California, formerly of Deckerville, died Wednesday August 20, 2008 in her home. She was born July 25, 1927 in Applegate, the daughter of the late George and Marie (Hoppenworth) Wagner. She traveled to San Diego in the early 1950?s with her sister and brother-in-law, where she met and married H. Hugh Choate on December 31, 1953. In San Diego she became a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Studios. Later she and her husband moved to San Francisco where she worked for the Fuller Paint Co. She and her husband then moved to Los Angeles where she worked for the University of Southern California in the Institute of Aerospace Management. There she met and worked with some of the first US astronauts. After her time at USC she enrolled at UCLA and received a degree in interior design. She then worked for Barker Bros., Furniture in Beverly Hills, where she decorated some of the homes of the Movie and TV industry people. Mrs. Choate is survived by her husband, Hugh of Playa del Rey, CA., one brother Donald Wagner of Fla., and one sister Mrs. Mary Jane Manley of Yale, also, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Dotti Wagner Choate will be 10:00 AM., Monday in the Port Sanilac Cemetery Chapel. Rev. Robert A. Srock will officiate.
