Dorothy J. Purdy

Dorothy J. Purdy, age 97, of Deckerville, formerly of Saginaw passed away Saturday January 4, 2020 in Stonegate Village, Sandusky. She was born December 26, 1922 in McGregor, the daughter of the late Herbert and Lillian (Campbell) Mcfarlane. Dorothy married Michael Lux on September 30, 1944 who preceded her in death in 1967. She then married Vern Purdy on November 8, 1969, he preceded her in death on September 16, 2012. Dorothy was a member of the McGregor RLDS church. She grew up in Detroit and McGregor. She attended high school in Carsonville graduating in 1940. She is survived by one sister Mrs. Alice Whitwam of Deckerville; stepson Vern (Adele) Purdy of Midland; stepdaughter Cheryl (James) Carey of Fairgrove; grandchildren Mark Purdy, Ann Marie Pike, Adam and Aaron Purdy and four great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Terry (Hailing) Suntag, Orie (Jean) Suntag, Vickie (James) Roth, Allen Herb and Dan Whitwam, Phillip (Tammi) McFarlane, Nancy McFarlane, and special nieces Linda (James) Ferguson, and Debbie (John) Willing and several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Dorothy J. Purdy will be held at Noon of Wednesday January 8, 2020 in the Apsey Funeral Home. Pastor Jerry Griggs will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Stonegate Village.
