Earl Klaus, 89, of Deckerville, passed away November 29, 2019. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
Earl was born on September 15, 1930, to the late Raymond and Evelyn (Erdman) Klaus, and was raised on the family farm in Palms, Michigan. He joined the Navy in 1949. In 1951, he met the love of his life, Phyllis Nauman, and they were married on October 25, 1952. They had three children. Earl was the owner and operator of Hay Haven Farms and a lifelong farmer and hard worker. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, spending time with his family, and, in his retirement, traveling to Sun Lakes, Arizona, where he and Phyllis made many special friends.
Earl is survived by his wife of 67 years, Phyllis; two sons, Kurt Klaus of Galveston, Texas, and Steve (Carrie) Klaus of Port Sanilac; his daughter, Karin (Tom) Russell of Palms; five grandchildren, Angela (Paul) Blowers, Neil (Natalia) Russell, Austin (Alex) Klaus, Lily Klaus, and Hunter Klaus; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Earl was preceded in death by his grandson, Kristopher; three brothers, Ken, Dale, and Ron Klaus; his sister, Charlotte Fischer; and his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Margaret Parrott.
A funeral service to honor the life of Earl Klaus will be held at 12:30pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Forestville, Michigan. Visitation will be from 10:30am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Deckerville Public Library.
