Edward Ted Gibbs

Edward "Ted" Gibbs, age 69, of Sandusky, Michigan, passed away August 7, 2011, at Saginaw Covenant Hospital with all his family at his side. He was born August 24, 1941 to the late Raymond and Olive (Grimstead) Gibbs. He was proudly raised and stayed on the same family property his entire life, keeping the tradition of farm life. He graduated from Deckerville Community High School in 1959. He is survived by and dearly missed by his wife of 48 years Mary Lou (Hunsinger) Gibbs, his daughters Lisa (Andy) Bradley of Sandusky, and Sheila Simkiss and son Dan Gibbs both of Deckerville, grandchildren Jadelyn Bradley, Hadley and Colton Gibbs, Chase and Braydon Simkiss and faithful dog Ruby II. Also survived by brother-in-law Gary (Lillie) Hunsinger, sisters-in-law, Jean Gibbs, Kathy Kitchen, and Karen (George) Gillam, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by sons Brian and Kevin and brother David. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Edward "Ted" Gibbs will be 11:00 AM., Friday in the Apsey Funeral Home, Rev. Robert Srock will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-9 PM., Wednesday and 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM., Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to the Deckerville School Scholarship fund, Deckerville Community Hospital or the American Heart Association.
