Eileen M. Burlingame

Eileen (Michel) Burlingame August 14, 1952 – February 20, 2025

Born in Detroit, MI to Gabriel and Margaret “Peggy” (Barton) Michel, the oldest of 15 children, Eileen

Michel Burlingame of Port Sanilac, MI went home to be with Jesus on February 20, 2025, at the age of 72after a lengthy illness. Eileen was in a hurry to get to Heaven to join the love of her life and husband of over 40 years, Richard T. Burlingame, who passed away just 3 weeks prior.

Eileen is predeceased by Richard, her mother, Peggy, and brothers, Michael (Robin), John Thomas, and

Frank.

She leaves behind her stepsons, Stephen (Meredith), Burlingame and Daniel (Julianna)

Burlingame, her father, Gabriel and siblings Gabriel Joseph, Mary, Margaret, Rita (Thaddeus) McCotter,

Elizabeth (Brian Green), Patrick (Marnie), Monica (Jeff) Beil, Dr. Theresa Michel, Daniel (Beth), Catherine

(Simon Muderack), and Julia, plus 28 nieces and nephews.

A 1970 graduate of Benedictine High School in Detroit, Eileen was a talented artist, gifted musician, and

award-winning diaper changer. She was a true pioneer who loved exploring the country with Richard,

camping, and everything that came with that. “Oldest of 15” was a lot more than bragging rights. She

was “mom” when mom couldn’t be there and “dad” when dad couldn’t be there. Most importantly, she

was ALWAYS there when we needed her. Her one-two-punch was her silly demeanor designed to disarm

the crustiest of ogres and her brilliant sense of humor that left ‘em rolling in the aisles.

A Catholic Funeral Mass for Eileen will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church,

711 Rickett Road, Brighton, MI 48116 at 10:30 am. Visitation will start at 9:30 am and there will be a

luncheon immediately following.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Solanus Casey Guild
