Gary R. Rich

Gary R. Rich, age 80, of Deckerville, passed away Thursday April 18, 2019 in the United Hospice House, Marlette. He was born April 11, 1939 in Bad Axe the son of the late Russell and Jessie (McConnachie) Rich. On March 26, 1960 Gary married Miss. Mary Jane Bennett. Together they farmed and raised three children. After thirty three years of marriage Mary Jane preceded him in death on April 4, 1993. Later Gary and Carol Rawlings were together eighteen years spending winters together in Arizona, until her death. Gary was a life long area farmer who enjoyed bowling, playing on several leagues in Deckerville and Sandusky. Sports, trap shooting and being with his children and grandchildren. He was a life member of Masonic Lodge #392 in Deckerville. He served as Master of the Lodge in 1991 and was treasurer from 1993 to the present. Mr. Rich is survived by one daughter, Dawn (Patrick) McGinnis of Clinton Township; two sons Dave (Sharon) Rich of Deckerville, and Doug (Carrie) Rich of L'Anse; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and several cousins. Also, his dear friend Jane Vogel. Funeral services for Gary R. Rich will be 11:00 AM., Tuesday April 23, 2019 in the Apsey Funeral Home. Pastor Jerry Griggs will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-9 PM., Monday and from 10:00 AM., until the time of service on Tuesday.
