Geraldine Sue Kinnunen, age 68 of Sandusky, a treasured soul known for her generosity, kindness, and thoughtfulness, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, in Port Huron, at the age of 68. Born on February 28, 1957, in Deckerville, Geraldine's life was a testament to the love and joy she brought to everyone around her.
Geraldine grew up in Ubly, where she attended Ubly High School, creating memories and friendships that lasted a lifetime. Her zest for learning took her to Northern Michigan University, where she furthered her education and prepared for a life of service and compassion. Geraldine's commitment to her country was evident through her service in the US Army, where she attained the rank of E-5, a reflection of her dedication and hard work. After her military service, Geraldine continued her path of helping others as a CENA at Autumnwood of Deckerville, where her gentle touch and warm smile were a comfort to many. Her passion for community support shone through her role as the assistant director at the Community Mental Health for Sandusky Personal Growth center, where she made a significant impact on the lives of those she worked with.
A woman of faith, Geraldine was a devoted member of the Sandusky Church of God. Her spiritual life was a cornerstone of her existence, providing her with strength and guidance throughout her journey. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as bowling, which allowed her to engage in friendly competition and laughter with friends. Shopping was another of Geraldine's interests, a hobby that often resulted in her finding the perfect gifts for her loved ones, showcasing her generous spirit.
Family was the heart of Geraldine's world. She was an adoring mother to Tina (Brian) Lindsay, Talishia (Christian) Lambert, and Tonya (Steven) Sanchez. Her love multiplied as she became a grandmother to thirteen and a great-grandmother to six, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life. Geraldine was also a beloved sister to Paul (Robin) Soule, Jimmy Soule, Donald (Tara) Soule, Nancy (Phil) James, and Caroline (Thomas) Korkos. Her life was enriched by the presence of many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Though she was preceded in death by her brother Carl Soule and her parents, Marvin and Deloris (Norton) Soule, Geraldine's legacy of love and compassion continues to live on through her family and the countless lives she touched.
Geraldine Sue Kinnunen's journey on earth may have come to an end, but the memories of her warm embrace, her selfless nature, and her unwavering kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and her memory will always be a beacon of light in the lives of her family and friends. We celebrate the remarkable woman she was, and although she will be deeply missed, we take solace in knowing that her impact will be felt for generations to come.
