Glenda Rae Salsbury-Dawson, 63, of Port Sanilac, MI, passed away peacefully in her beautiful home after a long battle with lung cancer. She leaves a hole in the hearts of her family and friends, who will miss her pickled veggies and hearty stews. She played an important role in many people’s lives, but her prowess in the kitchen and garden cannot be overstated.
During her time with us, she made a point to model compassion, open-mindedness, and how to propagate houseplants. She leaves behind a lush and thriving collection of said houseplants who would be honored to be adopted into loving homes.
She is survived by 3 children: Gennae (Jamie) Hill, Galisha (Peter) Fleming, and Garrett (Maurine) Salsbury, 13 grandchildren (plus 2 on the way), 3 sisters: Janet Harland, Carol Pries, and Delore Salsbury-Dawson, and nieces, nephews and friends numbered like the stars.
Glenda was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Gense, her husband John Dawson, her parents Ralph and Emma June Salsbury, and her sister Betty Crouse.
A celebration of life will be held at the Forester Park Gazebo on Tuesday, August 27th. Visitation, laughter and perhaps some pickled veggies at 2:00, with funny, embarrassing and sappy memories to be shared at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, Glenda would love it if donations were made to Hunter Hospitality House in Port Huron or The Sanilac County Historical Society.
Condolences may be sent online to apseyfuneralhome.net
