Harleigh Merriman

Harleigh V. Merriman, age 97, of Deckerville, died Wednesday March 26, 2008 in Autumnwood of Deckerville. He was born August 3, 1910 in Wheatland Township, the son of the late Oscar and Amey (Fair) Merriman. He married Margaret Sweet April 1, 1938 Mr. Merriman was a life long area farmer. He was known for riding a motorcycle well into his seventies, and calling on people who were house bound. He is survived by his wife Margaret of Deckerville, one son Robert of Traverse City, one brother Willis (Ileen) Merriman of Deckerville, and one sister Mrs. Ida Wagner of Mayville. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Joel, David, Richard, John, and Frank, and three sisters, Dorothy Austin, Anne Thorne, and Ruth Cloutier. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Harleigh V. Merriman will be 11:00 AM. Saturday in the Apsey Funeral Home, Pastor Chris Wolf will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-9 PM. Friday.
