My loving Mother Janet Rose Stokes, 82, of Deckerville Michigan, passed away December 19 th , 2022 after being unable to recover from a stroke. She passed away peacefully in the loving care of her son and grandson in her home. She was born to the late Kenneth and Gladys Brundage, January 14 th 1940, in Detroit, Michigan. She was the oldest of three children with two brothers, Timothy and Jonathan. Janet graduated from Rochester High School in 1958 and received her LPN nursing degree from Carnage Institute. She married the late Dan Stokes Sr. in Rochester, Michigan on July 30 th , 1959 and they lived the beginning of their lives together in Waterford and Rochester Hills, Michigan before relocating to the farm of their dreams in Deckerville to be closer to her parents. She loved her community and served for a number of years in the Deckerville League of Women's club. Janet had three children. Survived by two children: Dan (Stacy) Stokes Jr. of Carsonville; and Kelly (Rob) Vincil of Berkley. She is also survived by her two brothers and sisters-in-law: Timothy (Linda) and Jonathan (Judy) Brundage, four grandchildren: Christopher, Paul, Timothy, and Brian and two great- grandchildren: Olivia and Sophia. Predeceased by her oldest child; Jody Stokes in 1988 and her loving. husband in 2020. Mom was always feisty, spicy, and full of life. She welcomed everyone she met with a smile, was loving kind, open hearted and always laughing. Always helped others in need however she could and truly touched the lives of many. She loved her family with all her heart and showed it in everything she did. Some of her favorite memories were at her parent's cottage on Lake Huron and loved all the bonfires and get togethers we shared over the years. She loved children and animals deeply as well as her love of the Lord. She spent many years donating her time teaching Sunday school at the Deckerville United Methodist Church and even would get all dressed up as a clown for the kids on special occasions at church. She was witty and funny and loved playing with the kids whenever she could. Of course, the babies gave her the most joy and loved having Olivia at home with her to love on and play with. Just another example of how much she loved children is she donated to St. Jude's Hospital charity that cares for children with cancer every month. Mom was truly a humble, selfless person but also the strongest. woman I've ever known. When she got her wings to fly home, God said Hallelujah your home. No showings or funeral service will be held for Mom, but we will be having a celebration of her life in the summer of 2023 with immediate close family only. Events Details are pending.
