Jean F. Gibbs

Jean F. Gibbs, age 79, of Carsonville, died January 8, 2025, in the Deckerville Community Hospital.
She was born June 27, 1945, in Detroit, the daughter of the late Donald and Elsie (Bates) Reaume. Jean grew up in the Deerfield/Ida area and attended school at the Ida High School, graduating in 1963.
On November 28, 1964, she married James L. Schmidt. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1989. In July 1991 she married Max Gibbs.
Jean worked in various banks since she was 18 years old, the last being North Star Bank in Caro as a loan officer. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Jean is survived by one son, Jay Schmidt of Caro; two daughters, Joy and Dereck Palecki of Croswell, Janee Schmidt of Deckerville; stepson Craig and Nicole Gibbs of Flint; stepdaughter Shannon and Randall Durham of Flint; grandchildren, Brandon and Aeryn Klaska, Tyler and Haylee Schmidt, Veronica and Brandon Purcell, Chandler Stoutenburg, Conner Lamont, Chayse Lamont, Jessica and Andrew Sumner and Danielle Gibbs. Six great grandchildren, two sisters, Janice and Dwayne Cartmell of KY, and June Rollins of Temperance and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson Austin Palecki in 2018 and sister Joyce Dresden.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude’s in memory of Jean.
A memorial service is planned for later this year.
