Our beloved Jessica Annabelle Maier (44) passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025 in Lapeer, MI. Jess was born on October 11, 1980 in Deckerville, MI. She was the third child to be blessed to Albert and Wendy (Kroetsch) Maier. She completed their family of 5, joining her older sister Nichole (Harold Tarzwell) and brother Albert, III (Jody Lopinski). They both remember the day she was born and being excited for her arrival even though the addition of a baby sister to their established duo after a few years required some adjusting. We have so many cherished memories of our childhood together growing up on our farm. Playing outside, in the barn, riding 4 wheelers, watching Saturday morning cartoons. So many extended family outings with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins going camping, canoeing, attending sleep overs, singing and dancing to our favorite songs and playing games/cards. Jess was so loved by her family. Jessica took her job as Auntie very seriously. She loved her nephews and nieces, Drew (Madelynn), Jenna, Ben, Samantha, Leah, Dylan and great-nephew Mason very much. Every minute spent watching them grow up was one of the greatest joys of her life. Jessica will be remembered as a fierce and loyal friend. First to her Deckerville school classmates and her coworkers from Camp Hawthorne Hallow girl scout camp where she worked during the summer and on weekends and later as Asst Camp Director. She developed a love for horses during her early teen years and spent many hours riding and showing. After graduating from CMU, she spent several years at Camp Courageous in Iowa where she was caregiver for the disabled. Here she also worked with horses and offered riding lessons. She was blessed with many friends from her time working here. Jessica moved back home to her family and became part owner with her father and brother -in-law in the family driver education business. During this time, she began to breed labradors. Her lab family started with Angel and has grown to include Archer, Aspen, Stella, and Oakley. She loved her dogs like they were her own kids. Jessica has devoted her life to caring for other people and animals. We are grateful for the short time we were given with Jess. Her passing leaves a huge hole that will not be filled. We are comforted knowing she has been welcomed home to be with Jesus and all our dear family that have passed before her. Even though we grieve our loss of Jessica, we know she is pain free and in heaven above. Jessica, we want you to rest well now after the long battle you fought. We also wish to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support shown to Jessica and our family during this past year. She was so thankful for the numerous cards, donations, prayers, visits, texts and hugs.
