Joann (Carla) Millemon-Kinman

JoAnn (Carla) Millemon-Kinman, age 83 of Michigan, died Sunday June 2, 2024, in McLaren hospital Port Huron.

She was born July 14, 1940, in Des Moines, IA., the daughter of the late Hubert H. and Alice M. (Collins) Barcus.

On May 5, 1958, she married Oliver James Millemon Jr. He preceded her in death in 1973. She then married Larry T. Kinman on June 12, 1973. He preceded her in death in 2018.

JoAnn was a homemaker who loved raising four daughters. She was preceded in death by a precious son and daughter James H. Millemon and Kelly A. Millemon. She was also preceded in death by one brother Richard and three sisters Norma, Barbara and Sharon.

JoAnn worked as a waitress and was nicknamed “Carla” because her sassy personality reminded people of Carla from the TV show Cheers. She also enjoyed reading, drawing, fishing, cooking and baking, bowling and shooting pool with her husband. JoAnn was known to love animals more than people.

JoAnn is survived by four daughters Alicia M. (Larry) Preston of FL., Mary Jo (Del) Phillips of FL., Jamie S. (Larry) Krause of Peck and Helen M. (Joel) Kosman of TN. Thirteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, and her faithful dog Buttercup.

JoAnn Millemon-Kinman will be laid to rest later this month in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.
