John (Jack) Willis

John Ridley (Jack) Willis passed away after a brief illness on August 22, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born to Ralph and Jessie May (Ridley) Willis on December 19, 1930, in Deckerville, Michigan, and raised prize-winning beef cattle while working the Willis Centennial Farm. Once retired, he enjoyed traveling with his 5th wheel and was an avid reader, enjoying a good Western as well as modern adventure novels. Jack was friend to many, known well at area nursing homes where he made routine visits to his numerous friends. He was a focal presence at every family gathering, large or small, and was more Uncle Jack than cousin to the younger generations of Joneses. Jack was preceded by his parents Ralph and Jessie May Willis, sister Margaret Clementine (Willis) Evans and brother-in-law Morris, and local cousins Howard and Bruce Jones. He is survived by Bruce's wife Margaret, their children Bruce (Ellen), Susan (Jacques) Paquette, Kathleen Blattner, Pamela (Bill) McIntyre, Maureen (Dennis) Higgins, Robert (Andrea), Richard (Lia), and Margaret (Robert) Rayer; Howard's daughters Phyllis (Dennis) Ridley and Marsha (Dave) Roskey, and numerous other relatives strewn from North Dakota into Canada to Australia. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 25 between 3 pm until 7 pm at Apsey Funeral Home, Deckerville and services will be on Friday August 26, at 11 am. Interment will be at East Marion Cemetery, 4870 East Shabonna Road, Deckerville MI. Memorials may be given to the family discretionary fund.
