Joyce Elaine (Hawkins) Reid

Joyce Elaine Reid, known affectionately to family and friends as Joyce, a resident of Forester Township, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on June 11, 2025, at Shelby Comfort Care in Shelby Township, Michigan. Born on March 2, 1942, in Detroit, and later moving to Port Sanilac Michigan, Joyce's life was marked by her loving and gentle nature, which endeared her to all who knew her.

Joyce spent a cherished childhood in Port Sanilac, where she was a beacon of friendliness and kindness from her earliest years. After completing a year of beauty school, Joyce dedicated her life to the noble vocation of being a homemaker. She created a warm and welcoming home, not only for her family but for anyone who crossed the threshold. Her home was often filled with the aroma of freshly baked goods and the soft clicking of knitting needles, as she pursued her passion for knitting and crochet. Joyce's handcrafted scarves brought comfort and warmth to the residents of her community, a testament to her ever-present desire to care for others.

Her life was a tapestry of love and dedication to her family. Joyce's memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving daughters, Gayle (Richard) Bihary and Sandra (Jorge) Wong. Her legacy also lives on through her adored three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. Joyce was a treasured aunt to her two nieces and two nephews, who will miss her guidance and affection. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary R. Reid, and her cherished grandson, Christian, both of whom she now joins in eternal peace.

Joyce's gentle spirit extended beyond her family to her collection of knick-knacks, each piece holding a special memory and story that she loved to share. Her home was a reflection of her life—full of love, memories, and the simple joys that she found in every day.

A woman of faith, Joyce's Christian beliefs were the cornerstone of her life, providing her strength and comfort throughout her years. Her kindness, her friendly smile, and her gentle touch will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service for Joyce will be held on Saturday July 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Lexington United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM.
