Judy Elsie Harter

Judy Elsie Harter (Peruski), 81, of Deckerville, has passed away.

Judy was born June 17, 1944.

Judy grew up in Palms with her parents, Elmer and Isabel (Bezemek) Peruski. While attending Deckerville High school, Judy had many roles and achievements. She was both Treasurer of her class, and FHA president all 4 years of high school. In her senior year, Judy was voted FFA sweetheart, homecoming queen, and worked in the school library. She participated in the school play and choir, even though she swore she couldn’t sing. Judy married her high-school sweetheart, Richard Harter, August 22, 1964. They had 2 sons, Gregory and Jeffrey. Judy took on the most important role of the farm. She was a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, farmer, bookkeeper, secretary, and most recently, a great grandmother. Judy kept everyone in line with her caring hands and heart. She worked in the fields and kept all the book work for several businesses she and Richard started and ran together throughout their 60 years of marriage. Judy retired from the fields, but still continued to work at Deckerville Library, helping her community, as she always did. She enjoyed reading, attending church, caring for her family, and loved her animals, Cash and Eva. Judy is survived by her sons, Gregory (Salena) Harter, and Jeffrey (Jill) Harter; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; her siblings Joann Stacer and Elmer Peruski, and sister in law Carol (Donald) Rose. Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; Parents, Elmer and Isabel; Father-in-law Nick; Sisters Irene Walling, and Mary Jane Vogel; Brother in laws Charles Vogel, and Donald Stacer; Sister in laws Violet (Bukowski) Peruski, Doris Coon, Kathleen Gerber, and Mary Ann Stone; and granddaughter Jessica Harter.
