Justine Abbott

Justine Thayer Abbott, age 85, of Deckerville, died Tuesday June 16, 2009 in Covenant Cooper Hospital, Saginaw. She was born April 30, 1924 in Carsonville, the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Trigger. She married Cletus F. Thayer on October 24, 1942 in Deckerville. He preceded her in death July 17, 1978. She then married Archie Abbott on April 25, 1991 in Port Huron. Mrs. Abbott was a member of the Deckerville United Methodist Church, the Rebecca Lodge and the Deckerville Community Hospital Auxiliary. She played Basketball and Volleyball in high school, and loved to watch high school sports, and the Detroit Tigers. She is survived by her husband Archie of Deckerville, four sons, Grant (Nelta) Thayer of Dobson, N.C., Elmer Thayer of Sandusky, James (Julie) Thayer of Dallas, TX. and William (Connie) Thayer of Palms, three daughters, Mrs. Joy (Gary) Koester of Port Sanilac, Mrs. Nancy (Keith) Mino of St. Johns, Mrs. Marsha (Ed) Kosal of Palms, one step-son Alan Abbott of Minden City, and one step-daughter Mrs. Marilyn (Gary) Danford of St. Augustine, FL., one step-daughter-in-law Mrs. Linda Ferguson of Deckerville, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ada Karg of Harbor Beach, and Mrs. Greta Kerr of Carsonville, 26 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by one son Rex Thayer on Jan. 15, 1973, one step-son John Abbott on Feb. 2, 1983, one brother Walter Trigger and one daughter-in-law, Jessie Meissner Thayer. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Justine Thayer Abbott will be 1:00 PM. Saturday in the Apsey Funeral Home, your ?Legacy of Life? funeral home, Rev. Jerry Griggs will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-9 PM., Thursday and 1-9 PM, Friday Memorials may be given to the Deckerville School Athletic Boosters, or donor?s discretion.
