Katherine M. Goheen, a beacon of love and wisdom, passed away on August 9, 2025, at the age of 88, in Covnent-Cooper Hospital, Saginaw. She was  born on July 30, 1937 in Deckerville. She was the cherished wife of Roy W. Goheen, who preceded her in death on December 10, 2005. Their union, which began on September 10, 1955, was blessed with love, laughter, and three devoted sons, Michael (Amie), Patrick (Dina), and Thomas. Katherine's legacy continued to flourish through her seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, as well as several nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

Katherine's early life in Deckerville was marked by her academic prowess, graduating as Valedictorian of the Deckerville Community School class of 1954. Her intelligence and work ethic were evident from the start. She commenced her professional journey at Clements Manufacturing in 1955, working for Herbert and Torchy Clements. In the early 1980s, Katherine's entrepreneurial spirit shone through when she and Dixon Warczinsky took a leap of faith and purchased the plant. They successfully ran the business until her well-deserved retirement in 2001.

A devout Christian, Katherine led her life with grace and compassion, embodying the love and teachings of her faith. Her generous spirit extended beyond her family, touching the lives of many in her community. She dedicated 40 years of service to the Deckerville Community Hospital Board, from 1978 to 2018, and showed the same commitment as a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. Her tireless work in these roles was driven by a genuine desire to improve the health and wellbeing of her fellow citizens.

Katherine's sense of civic duty was further exemplified by her active membership in the Deckerville Lions Club, where she worked alongside her neighbors to better the community she held dear. Her efforts in these various associations were not merely acts of service but a testament to her belief in collective responsibility and mutual support.

Those who knew Katherine would describe her as loving, generous, and intelligent. She possessed an innate ability to nurture and educate, always providing guidance and support to those around her. Her wisdom was sought after, her company cherished, and her kindness felt by all who had the pleasure of crossing her path.

As we bid farewell to Katherine M. Goheen, we reflect on a life lived with purpose and joy. She has left an indelible mark on her family, friends, and the community of Deckerville. While she may have been preceded in death by her brothers Anton and Johnny Tobi, and sisters Sally Albrecht and Elizabeth Price, the values she instilled and the memories she created will continue to thrive in the hearts of those she loved. Katherine's light, though no longer present in this realm, will forever guide us as we navigate the path of life she once walked so gracefully.
