It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Kenneth Herbert Heilig Sr., 64, of Deckerville, Michigan. Surrounded by family, Ken passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026, in Marlette, Michigan following a short illness. He was born May 21, 1961 in Bad Axe, Michigan, a son of the late Joseph and Evelyn Heilig. Ken is survived by his wife, Patty Heilig, children, Crystal (Brandon) Harshbarger, Kenneth Heilig Jr., Carl Schroeder, Kelley (Eric) Pupi, Jannette (Verlin) Smith and Wilbur Brockitt, grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maygan, Wyatt, Logan, Brody, Lillian, Michele, Austin, Britney, Tyler and Robert, and siblings, Katherine Field, Rick Heilig and Keith Bruderick. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Charles, Marvin, and Mary Heilig. Ken was a hardworking man with a wry sense of humor who took great pride in his work. He was very mechanically inclined and loved to use that gift for the benefit of others. He enjoyed woodworking, welding, small engine repair, and fishing. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 7066 Main Street, Port Sanilac, Michigan 48469 at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Burial is at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, 7391 Huron line Rd. E, Ruth, Michigan 48470, following the funeral Mass and subsequent reception in the Saint Mary Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Ken’s memory to United Hospice Service, 2770 Main Street, Marlette, Michigan 48453 in thanksgiving for their loving care during his final days.
