L J Terpenning

L.J. Terpenning, age 80, of Sandusky, passed away Sunday March 19, 2017 in Stonegate Village. He was born May 17, 1936 in Wheatland Township, the son of the late Glenn and Helen (Wischman) Terpenning. L.J. married Miss. Barbara C. Anderson on September 17, 1955 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2012. Mr. Terpenning was a retired area farmer. He managed the Sandusky Big Boy for several years and sold Real Estate for Century 21, N. Clare Wait and Peters Real Estate. He also served on the Good News Camp board. He enjoyed model trains, and watching Freighters on the St. Clair River. He was a member of the Deckerville Bible Church. L.J. is survived by one son Jeff (Melissa Broadway) Terpenning of Hillsdale, one daughter Becky Mater of Deckerville, two grandchildren Andrew (Tabitha) Mater and Ashley Mater, two great grandchildren Novalie Mater and Eden Mater. He was preceded in death by one brother Elwin Terpenning and his son-in-law Allen Mater. Funeral services to celebrate the life of L.J. Terpenning will be 11:00 AM Thursday in the Deckerville Bible Church. Pastor Jeff Homan will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday and 2:00-9:00 pm Wednesday in the Apsey Funeral Home and 10:00 am until the time of service at church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to Compassus Hospice, Stonegate Village or Deckerville Bible Church.
