Laverne H. Schumacher

LaVerne H. Schumacher, age 86, of Deckerville, passed away Wednesday August 26, 2020 in the home of his granddaughter in Lawrence, MI. He was born October 21, 1933 in Delaware Two., the youngest son of Joseph and Emma (Halifax) Schumacher. On October 25, 1952 he married Beverly Wintermute. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2018. LaVerne retired from Saginaw Grey Iron in 1993. He enjoyed fishing , going to the Casino's, playing cards and teasing his grandchildren. He is survived by one son, William (Julie) Schumacher of Saginaw; three daughters, Linda (Gary) Gerkin of Saginaw, Donna (Phil) Daley of Deckerville and Judy Sieggreen of Three Rivers, and special daughters Kim Sweitzer of Palms, and Becky Foster of Sandusky; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters June Moy of Greenville and Shirley Ginther of Bad Axe; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and six sisters. Funeral services to honor the life of Laverne H. Schumacher will be held at 1:00 Pm Sunday in the Downing Cemetery. Pastor Mark Garavaglia will officiate. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 PM Saturday in the Apsey Funeral Home.
