Leona M. Brown

Leona M. Brown, age 82, of Marlette, passed away Tuesday November 13, 2018 in St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw. She was born May 18, 1936 in Deckerville, the daughter of the late William and Ila (Wagester) Kerbyson. Leona married Robert J. Brown on September 25, 1954 in Deckerville. He preceded her in death October 29, 1997. Leona grew up in the Deckerville area and attended Deckerville Community Schools, graduating in 1954. She worked for several years at the hospital in Alma. She was a former member of the AM Vets in Armada. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, and collecting pictures of old barns, along with being with her family. She is survived by two sons, Barry (Debbie) Brown and Terry (Pam) Brown both of St. Helen; two daughters, Cindy (Lane) Chapin and Lisa Ciurla both of Marlette; a daughter-in-law Ellen Pennebaker of TN; ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one sister Mrs. Donna Foote of Sandusky and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son Rodney Brown in 1984; son-in-law Chris Ciurla, and her special friend Henry Foote. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Leona M. Brown will be 1:00 PM., Saturday November 17, 2018 in the Apsey Funeral Home. Barry Brown, Deacon, will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00-8:00 PM Friday and Noon to 1:00 PM on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Handicap Freedom Riders of Sandusky c/o Jim Hale.
