Lillian H. Darlington, age 99, of Deckerville, died Sunday September 7, 2008 after a brief illness.
She was born April 16, 1909 in Custer Township to the late Robert C. and Elizabeth (Basler) Nichol.
Lillian married Merle Darlington on November 30, 1935. He preceded in death in 1997.
She taught school for thirty years, retiring in 1972 after teaching in Holly and Deckerville, MI. This included three years in the one room Maple Grove School. She also belonged to the Deckerville Community Hospital Auxiliary, and was known for her many hand-made quilts and crafts.
She is survived by two sons, Clare (Judith) Darlington of Brighton, and Donald (Yvonne) Darlington of Deckerville, one brother Grant (Viola) Nichol of Chelsea, four granddaughters, Debra Darlington of San Francisco, CA., Dawn (Rodney) Shelton of Howell, Heather (Aron) Kuch of Charleston, S.C., and Erin (Adam) Burke of Atlanta, GA., and four great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Nichol and two brothers, Milo Nichol, and Myron ?Gene? Nichol.
A private family memorial service has been held. Interment was in Downing Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Deckerville Community School Educational Foundation or the Deckerville Hospital Auxiliary.
