Margaret W. Evans

Margaret W. Evans, age 88, of Deckerville, passed away peacefully Friday May 27, 2016 in Port Huron McLaren Hospital surrounded by loving family. She was born July 8, 1927 in Deckerville the daughter of the late Ralph and Jessie "May" (Ridley) Willis. She married Morris Evans December 29, 1973 in Deckerville. They had many happy years of retirement, traveling and tending the family farm. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2004. Margaret attended the Maple Grove Country School and graduated from Deckerville Community High School in 1945. Margaret worked for the Hudson Motor Car Company in Detroit followed by Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Company where she worked as an Executive Secretary until her retirement. Margaret was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Deckerville. She enjoyed photography, cooking, and traveling. She loved her family and spent her life in the unselfish care of others. Mrs. Evans is survived by one brother John "Jack" Willis of Deckerville, and Cousin Margaret (Mrs. Bruce) Jones of Deckerville and their family of eight children and many descendants. One sister-in-law mrs. Betty Evans Schimacker of Sandusky. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Morris Evans, Cousin Bruce Jones, and brother-in-law Lloyd Schumacker. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM., Tuesday in the Apsey Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Garavaglia will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00-8:00 PM Monday in the Apsey Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Lions Club.
