Margaret Jones

Margaret Jones completed 96 years of joy-filled earthly service early on Wednesday morning September 25, 2024, slipping away quietly while surrounded by loving family. Margaret was born to Anthony and Suzanna (Semian) Pavelko in Barnesboro, Pennsylvania on May 26, 1928. She met her husband Bruce in Washington, D.C. while volunteering for the USO during World War II, and they spent the next 6 decades farming together, dancing, playing cards, and traveling the world. Margaret never hesitated to lend a hand and found great pleasure in comforting friends and neighbors in their time of need, sharing her resources and time freely. Countless hours were spent around her kitchen table enjoying the fruits of her labor and good conversation. Her talent for entertaining knew no bounds as she tackled cooking for family graduations and weddings with ease. Somehow amidst raising 8 children and working the farm she found time to volunteer, playing the organ and leading choir at St. Patrick’s Parish, supporting the Deckerville Band Boosters, Deckerville Hospital Auxiliary, American Cancer Society, and American Heart Association. She is survived by her children, Bruce (Ellen), Susan (Jacques Paquette), Kathleen, Pamela (Bill McIntyre), Maureen (Dennis Higgins), Robert (Andrea), Richard (Lia), and Margaret (Robert Rayer); grandchildren Veronica (Robert) Moyer and Gregory (Shannon) Lampron (Pam); Alison, Ilana and Jared (Kathy); Kyla (Matthew Chrest), Monique, Camillah, Arthur, and Alexander (Richard); Jackson and Jesse Mae (Margo); Daniel (Robert); great-grandchildren Desmond and McKenna (Veronica); and sister Mary Drahnak. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Bruce, sisters Anne and Helen, brothers Steve, Joseph, Frank, Anthony, Edward, Cyril, and Edward, and dear cousins of Bruce, Jack Willis and Margaret Evans. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Deckerville Hospital Auxiliary; Smile Train; or The Macular Degeneration Association. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday September 27 at Apsey Funeral Home, Deckerville, Michigan; and on Saturday September 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Church in Palms, Michigan. Services will be held at St. Patrick Church in Palms, Michigan on Saturday September 28 at 11:30. Interment will be at Downing Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday September 28 in Deckerville, Michigan.
