Mary L. Gough

Mary Louise Gough, age 89, died on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Hospice House in Marlette. She was born on January 5, 1936, to Charles and Lucille Stringer.

She married John B. Gough on June 20, 1953, in Deckerville. She spent her life on the family farm working alongside her husband and raised two children. She attended Peace Lutheran Church.

Mary is survived by son John Charles Gough (Special friend Brenda Sue) and one daughter Brenda Carol (Michael) Nichol. She had four grandchildren, Andrew John Gough, Ariane Kay Yoder (deceased), David Orland Nichol and Lisa Mae Woudenberg, as well as eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters; Beulah (Fred) Thayer, Jean (Vaughn) Smith, Judy (Larry) Van Norman; and by two brothers: Richard (Kris) Stringer, and Gerald Stringer. She is survived also by special friend Stan Gawlik.

She was preceded in death by one sister Carol Warner; and three brothers: Jim, Carl, and Jack Stringer; and one granddaughter Ariane.

A memorial service will be held on Friday April 11, 2025, in Peace Lutheran Church, Sandusky at 11:00 AM, Pastor Bryan Hopfensperger will officiate. Cremation has taken place.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

Memorials may be given to either Downing Cemetery or the United Hospice of Marlette.
