Melvin Henry Block

Melvin Henry Block of Minden City died on June 21, 2024, just shy of his 94 th birthday.

He was born on June 22, 1930 to the late Henry and Theresa Block. He married Joyce Bismack on October 15, 1960. She preceded him in death on October 28, 2014.

Melvin was a life-long area farmer and truck driver owning M&J Carriers. He was a collector of everything including Coca-Cola, Ford, and gas station memorabilia. He loved to stop at antique shops, garage sales, and casinos. In the summer, he could be found in his garden or tending to his beautiful red poppies that were in bloom every June. Through the years, him and Joyce would attend local car shows with their 1956 Crown Victoria.

Melvin is survived by his children Terry (Melissa) Block of Minden City, Steve (Pamela) Block of Virginia, and Colette (Dean) McConnachie of Deckerville; eight grandchildren Teryan, Kaylee (Deryke), John (Kelsey), Mitchell (Julie), Herman, Kelsey (Brian), Kelly (Doug), and Karyn; four great-grandchildren Matilda, Easton, Emma, and Baby Loss due in September; one sister Marie Ploe; and several nieces, nephews, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Elmer, Larry, and Dallas and sister Arlene Gazdick.

Cremation has taken place and private services for the family will be held at a later date.
