Oneta M. Lamb, age 102, of Delaware Township, passed away Thursday June 9, 2011 after a short illness. She was born November 27, 1908 in Delaware Township to the late Robert and Anna Reiche Gebhardt. She was a devoted wife of the late William G. Lamb. Cherished mother of Rita (Calvin) Whitney. Beloved grandmother of Craig (Teresa) Whitney, Bruce Whitney, and Brad Whitney. Loving great grandmother of Gregory and Amanda Whitney and Laena Whitney. Other survivors include nieces and nephews. Oneta was a dedicated generations farmer. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and homemaking. She was well known for her culinary skills, homemade bread and pies. She was a caregiver for her family. Oneta was an avid reader, studying the Bible extensively. She mastered the piano and accordion, playing for church events. She was a fan of the ?Irish Rovers? and attended their concert on her 100th birthday. She held various camp offices with R.N.A., a fraternal organization. She was a longtime member of the Humane Society and ASPCA and a protector of her favorite cat ?Thomas?. Oneta was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Gebhardt, and sisters Esther Davis and Anna M. Eggert. Private family service arrangements by the Apsey Funeral Home, Deckerville, the Rev. Barry Sheldon officiating. Interment will be in East Delaware Cemetery, Forestville.
