Richard Klaus

Richard R. Klaus, age 81, of Sebewaing, formerly of Deckerville, passed away on Monday August 23, 2010 in Bay Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born December 19, 1928 in Benton Harbor the only child of Edward and Louise (Hass) Klaus. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sebewaing. He was a retired school teacher. Richard is survived by his wife Donna Jean (Bishop) Klaus who he married on June 23, 1951. Two sons Paul (Jan) Klaus of Sebewaing and Phillip (Cindy) Klaus of Cass City, three granddaughters and four grandsons and 14 great grandchildren, one sister Ann Figlus Graziano of Benton Harbor, two sisters-in-law Marilyn Filter of Fla., and Barbara Terpstra of Wyandotte, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Gerald Filter, brother, Paul Figlus and two half sisters, two brothers-in-law Clifton Bishop and Richard Terpstra and a great granddaughter Lizzie Morgan. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Richard R. Klaus will be 11:00 AM., Friday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sebewaing, Pastor Daniel Hahn will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 PM., Thursday in the Juengel-Mellendorf funeral home, Sebewaing and from 10:00AM., until the time of service in the church on Friday. Graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM. Friday at the Downing Cemetery, Deckerville. Anyone wishing to join the family may attend. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to Bryans House (Hospice), Bay City. Arrangements are by the Apsey Funeral Home, Deckerville.
