Robert J. Lautner, age 88, of Minden City, died Saturday, April 18, 2026, in Autumnwood of Deckerville. He was born February 9, 1938, in Minden Township, the son of the Late Charles and Mary (Fenwick) Lautner. Robert grew up in the Palms area and attended school at Palms and Ubly High School. On October 13, 1990, he married Marilyn Geyer in Ruth. She preceded him in death October 15, 2022. After high school Robert sailed the Great Lakes for several years, worked for the Michigan Peat Moss facility in Minden City and for McCarty Bros in Argyle and then later retired from Tower Automotive. Robert enjoyed camping and mowing his lawn. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul in Ruth. He is survived by his children, Monica Tibbetts (Doug Van Sickle) of Deckerville, Mike Lautner of Ubly, Robin (Brian) Haag of Bad Axe, Chris Lautner of NC, Frank (Carey) Lautner, Minden City, Bobby (Mindy) Lautner of NC, Brad Lautner of AL, Step Children Holly (Mark) Essenmacher of Ruth, Melody Frankowski of Sand Point, and Dr. Laurie (Dennis Langley) Hanselman of Caseville; brothers and sisters, Allen (Kathryn) Lautner of Minden City, Mary June Bigras of Canada, Gerard Lautner of FL, Sara Lautner of Sandusky and Jack (Deb) Lautner of Minden City: brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gerald and Shirley Geiger of Palms: several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Thomas and daughter Janis; two brothers Francis, Charles and sister Theresa Block.
Visitation will be Thursday April 23, 2026, in the Peshek Family Funeral Home-Apsey Chapel from 4:00-8:00 pm. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday April 24, 2026, at 11:00 am in St. Isadore Parish, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Palms. FR. Anthony Pilli will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Sanilac Humane Society.
