Ronald E. Ridley, known affectionately as Ron to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, in McLaren Hospital of Port Huron, Michigan. Born on May 11, 1947, to William and Helen (Willis) Ridley, Ron's vibrant spirit and friendly demeanor touched the lives of many throughout his 77 years. Ron grew up in a close-knit family and carried the warmth of that upbringing throughout his life. He was a beloved brother to Frank (Connie) Ridley, Darold (Marilyn) Ridley, Randy (Doris) Ridley, and Ms. Linda Ridley. His presence will also be profoundly missed by his longtime friend and companion Pat Stephan along with several nieces and nephews who adored their fun-loving uncle. Ron was preceded in death by his sister Carol A. Ridley and his parents. A proud graduate of Deckerville Community School in 1965, Ron's courage and commitment to service were evident early on. He was drafted into the US Army on November 13, 1969, and served his country with distinction during a tour in Vietnam. His bravery earned him a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars, accolades that spoke of his valor and selfless spirit. After being honorably discharged from the military in 1970, Ron returned to the family farm. There, he worked alongside his parents and brother, dedicating himself to the land and the community that raised him. In addition to farming, Ron was a successful entrepreneur. He owned and operated Mid-Thumb Water Conditioners, a testament to his hardworking nature and his ability to connect with customers and friends alike. Ron's interests were as robust as his personality. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed all kinds of hunting, and he humorously declared war on the local woodchuck population, much to the amusement of his family and friends. Ron also had a passion for speed and excitement, which he fulfilled by attending NASCAR races, cheering on the drivers as they zoomed around the track. Described by those who knew him as courageous, friendly, and spirited, Ron's legacy is one of joy, laughter, and courage. He approached life with a sense of adventure leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. As we bid farewell to Ronald E. Ridley, we celebrate the indelible mark he left on our hearts and the community he cherished. His memory will continue to inspire us, reminding us to face each day with courage and to nurture the bonds of friendship and family.
