Russell J. Franzel

Russell J. Franzel, age 70, of Harbor Beach, died Tuesday February 18, 2025, in his home after an extended illness.
He was born on September 3, 1954, in Deckerville, the son of the late Lincoln and Pearl (Oswald) Franzel. He grew up in Minden City and attended school in Ubly graduating in 1974.
Russell lived with and took care of his parents for many years. He also worked part time at Frank’s Bait Shop in White Rock. He liked to work on motors and on computers. He was a member of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth.
He is survived by one brother, Roger Franzel of Minden City: three sisters, Mary Lou (Ken) Peruski of Bad Axe, Susan (William) Woodard of Snover and Kay (Chris) Essenmacher of Harbor Beach and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Franzel and Richard Franzel.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM Monday February 24, 2025, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Holy Apostles Parish, Ruth. Fr. Sunil Pallela will officiate. The burial will be in the church cemetery later this year.
Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
