Ruth E. O'Mara

Ruth E. O’Mara, age 86, of Deckerville, died Wednesday December 4, 2024, in her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born September 28, 1938, in Forester Township, the daughter of the late William W. and Myrtle (Robison) Burgess Sr.
Ruth grew up in the Deckerville area and attended Deckerville Community Schools, graduating in 1956
On October 18, 1958, she married Thomas J. (Tim) O’Mara in Port Huron. She worked at the Deckerville Community School for thirty-three years as a Para Pro and playground aide. Ruth enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by her husband Tim, two sons, Tom (Karen) O’Mara of Deckerville, Jim (Lori) O’Mara of Sandusky, three daughters, Jayne (Bill) Fisher Port Sanilac, Pat (Scott) McVittie of Deckerville and Kelly (Mark) Watson of Deckerville. Sixteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother William Burgess and one sister Donna Gordon.
As per Ruth’s wishes a private family graveside and memorial will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the Deckerville Education Foundation or Compassus Hospice.
