Shirley Edward Schmidt, age 87, of Prudenville, formerly of Deckerville died Thursday August 11, 20ll, in King Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.Shirley Edward Schmidt, age 87, of Prudenville, formerly of Deckerville died Thursday August 11 He was born March 24, 1924 in Carsonville the son of the late Edward and Clara (Erbe) Schmidt. He married Miss. Mildred Caswell on January 15, 1944. He was a resident of the Houghton Lake area for the past 27 years. He retired in 1984 from the DuBois Chemical Co as a sales manager. Mr. Schmidt is survived by his wife Mildred of Prudenville, three sons Gary of Deckerville, Wayne (Jackie) of Spring Lake, Al (Arlene) of Bay City, one daughter Ms. Ruth Parrott of Midland, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, five nephews, and four nieces. He was preceded in death by one sister Mrs. Verna Ostrowski, his parents and one grandson. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Shirley E. Schmidt will be held 12:30 Saturday September 10, 2011in the Apsey Funeral Home. Rev. Robert A. Srock will officiate. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday September 9, 2011 from 2:00 PM-8:00 PM. Cremation has taken place in Sunset Valley Crematory, Bay City. Memorials may be given to the family discretionary fund.
