Victoria Ann Essery-Arena

Victoria Ann Essery, 74, of Croswell, passed away early Friday, August 21, while resting in hospice. Victoria (Vicci) was born August 18, 1952 to the late William Evan and Shirley Ann (née McCracken) Essery. She is survived by her children, Serene Arena, Victor Arena, and Matthew Dildy, as well as beloved extended family and friends. Vicci spent her youth in Alliance, OH, later graduating from Andover High School in Bloomfield Hills, MI and then Northern Michigan University (go Wildcats!). Vicci was a weaver and artist early in life, cherishing her time working at The Little Gallery in Birmingham, and later becoming a prolific seamstress, heirloom sewer, knitter, and quilter—her chosen art. She made many beautiful things, but her Christmas pajama pants may be missed the most. :)

Vicci was also a proud entrepreneur and business owner throughout her life, and owned Victoria’s Sewing in Croswell, a cornerstone of the area’s sewing community, which she felt a deep commitment to maintaining, even as her health faltered. She loved coffee and murder mysteries, and spent most of her life staying up late sewing and designing her next creation. She loved her dogs, her countryside home, and the peace that brought her. Victoria lived many lifetimes in her years with us and will live on in the stories she loved to share, both tall and true. A deeply intuitive and spiritual person, she believed in the power of continued friendship, no matter what side of the worldly experience you were on. So keep talking with her, she’s with you.
