Ward Grant Hooper

Ward G. Hooper, age 82, of Deckerville, passed away on Saturday November 29, 2025, in his home after an extended illness. He was born on December 24, 1942, the son of the late Grant and Bertha (Davis) Hooper. Ward grew up in the Deckerville area and graduated from Deckerville Community Schools in 1961. On March 27, 1965, he married Joan B. Tanton. She preceded him in death on November 21, 2007. Ward owned and operated Hooper Construction and farmed on the side. He enjoyed snowmobile racing, water skiing, riding his Harley and flying his Cessna 182. Ward is survived by his daughters, Susan Roberts (Carsonville) and Tina (Shawn) Monahon (Grand Rapids); granddaughters Kayla and Taylor; brothers Larry (Gail) Hooper and Donald (Pam) Hooper (Deckerville); sister Irene (John) Werhnyak (Alma); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother Ronald: sister-in-law Sherry Hooper and son-in-law Gregory Roberts.

Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 PM Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the Peshek Family Funeral Home – Apsey Chapel. Funeral service to celebrate the life of Ward G. Hooper will be 1:00 PM with a visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Service Friday, December 5, 2025 at the Peshek Family Funeral Home, Apsey Chapel, 3467 Main St., Deckerville, MI 48427. Pastor Jeremy Van Norman will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Deckerville Community Hospital Auxiliary, Deckerville League of Women or Deckerville Lions Club.
